FAQs

Nature of Remade:

At SUAY, we choose to reuse. Old things are always cooler than new, and finding ways to repair, restore and repurpose single-life garments or materials headed for the landfill is the greatest action we can take towards cleaning up our massive textile waste problem.

Every single item we sell is made in-house by our team of skilled garment makers and each one is unique and limited. The nature of remade means that each and every piece will have its own special characteristics from its first life. The way that we see it, supporting remade doesn’t mean you just accept these variations, but desire and love them (like we do!). Our favorite part about remade is that each person receives a truly one of a kind product.

When you see items represented on our site, each is a one-of-a-kind item that represents the style, color, and feel of the one-of-a-kind item you will receive when you make your purchase. If you are truly unhappy with what you receive, we will always be happy to offer an exchange for an alternative of your choosing.

Reuse is truly a radical act in today’s disposable fashion culture. We are educating more communities and connecting with new activists everyday and learning ways to improve the customer experience and expectations in buying remade. We hope to cultivate a curiosity and excitement for surprise versus a feeling of disappointment in not getting what you expected!

Thank you for your support of garment workers, your purchase is helping us build a culture of community and reuse that is accessible to all.

Textile Recycling

Do you have old garments that you no longer want to hold onto, and also want to ensure they are responsibly used and don’t end up in a landfill? Bring them to SUAY to participate in SUAY IT FORWARD so that we can recycle them through our textile recycling program which takes damaged or unwanted garments meant for only one life and restores and redesigns them for a new life (and many more beyond!).

Since its founding in 2017, SUAY has diverted over 3.5 million pounds of garment waste from landfills. Your donation will ensure that your textiles enter the circular economy while also supporting the local community.

  1. Buy the reusable recycling bag for $20/bag and receive a $20 credit
  2. Fill the bag with unwanted textiles
  3. Return the filled bag via the drop-off bin
